Effective today, the Royal Canadian Mint will cease to circulate the penny. This means any purchases made in cash will be either rounded up or down to the nearest five-cents.
While the penny remains legal tender, for those of you with a jar full of them at home, banks will accept rolled coins. Or, if you want to do some good with those coins, why not donate them to charity. According to the website, Show Your Roll, if you Tweet a photo of you and your pennies before you donate them to a good cause, and add the hashtag #showyourroll, they will feature you on their Honour Roll.
