Today is the first day of winter – many proud Canadians are rejoicing in the season we are best known for. This is also the last day before Mohawk College closes its doors for the holiday season. Students, staff and faculty are embracing the break between semesters to spend much deserved time with family and friends, and to relax and rejuvenate for the start of the winter 2013 semester.
With the busy holiday season upon us the library has some wonderful e-resources to keep you cozy while we’re away. There are a variety of EBSCO eBooks and audiobooks to help you get ready for the holidays. The list includes books to help you host a party on a budget, cook a classic (or not so classic) holiday meal, and craft projects to keep little hands busy before Santa visits. For those that want to catch up on some classic Christmas stories, the eBook collection includes works from Charles Dickens, Clement Clarke Moore, and Washington Irving to name a few. If dinner music is on your long list of things to do, why not discover a new Canadian musician like I have. Reid Jamieson, a Toronto born singer/musician from Vancouver, has recently released a new album, Songs For A Winter’s Night. It is a collection of beautiful songs that will add a touch of Canadian winter to any holiday gathering. My favorite is the title track – Reid Jamieson has re-recorded a Gordon Lightfoot classic and has done it right. Mr. Lightfoot should be proud of this beautiful rendition.
On behalf of the Library @ Mohawk staff, I would like to take this opportunity to extend warm wishes to Mohawk College students, staff and faculty for a happy holiday season and a wonderful New Year. For information about the libraries holiday hours, click here.
We look forward to seeing everyone in 2013!
